Events at the Chair

The DSI/NRF Trilateral Research Chair in Transformative Innovation, the 4th Industrial Revolution and Sustainable Development is hosting a series of events aimed at promoting high-quality research and researcher development. These events take the form of Brown Bag Sessions, In Conversations with Authors and Debate Series. These are hybrid workshops and presentations aimed at enhancing research skills and knowledge.

Brown Bag sessions: Offer an opportunity to present current research projects, draft papers, work in progress or preliminary work in an informal setting. All students and members of the Chair are invited to comment and give informal feedback. In an in-person session, we bring our lunches to the room, but in an online format that would be optional.

In Conversations with Authors: the Chair invites inspiring authors and prominent scholars to discuss their key contributions to the literature with students and emerging scholars. These papers will speak to the conceptual and theoretical frameworks that underpin and support the Research Chair’s focus on transformative innovation, 4IR, sustainable development and innovation policy.

Debate Series: engages in relevant topics in the realms of sustainable development, transformative innovation, and the fourth industrial revolution, allowing multiple perspectives to be shared on a single topic. Debates are open to students, professors, and researchers within UJ, SPRU and ACTS.
