About Ms Thobekile Masombuka
Qualifications: BA Language Practice (University of Johannesburg); BA (Hons) English (University of Johannesburg); MA Creative Writing (Rhodes University)
Teaching and research interests: Thobekile Masombuka is an assistant lecturer at the Department of English (UJ). She completed her MA degree in Creative Writing in 2019, through which she developed an admiration for short-form prose and flash fiction. She is completing her PhD in English literature at UJ and her research focus is on religious syncretism in postcolonial Nigerian literature. Her other areas of interest include representations of culture, gender, and race in postcolonial speculative fiction.
