Brief bio (super brief):
Dr. Peter Akuon holds BSc (UoN), MSc and PhD degrees from UKZN, South Africa.
He is a Senior Lecturer at the department of Electrical and Information Engineering in the University of Nairobi, Kenya. His recent research work is based on New Multiple Antennas Systems and Communication Networks, where he holds three regional patents in the area of Communication systems. Dr. Akuon consults in the area of hybrid power, telecoms, smart city facilities, fiber networks and data centers. He is also interested in indigenous knowledge generation approaches in design of engineering systems as evidenced in his recent book titled ‘The Face of Adam: Alchemy of Creation and Nikola Tesla’s 369 Code’, which discusses the generation of his three patents and other designs.

Abstract:
Conventional modulation process for symbols in communication system involves the use of constellation diagrams, frequencies, amplitudes, number of entities and phase to create a degree of randomness, which in turn conveys information. Recently, spatial domain was configured as one of the ways of adding randomness and much work has already been done to characterize spatial modulation (SM). In a more recent development, sequence of symbols or sequence of entities such as ports or antennas have been proposed in achieving new modulation schemes. This presentation will discuss new schemes that have been proposed and which require further technical characterization in order to fully explore their significance in the design of next generation communication systems.
The seminar will cover system models for – Antenna Sequence Modulation, SSK-Sequence Modulation and frequency Rank Modulation.
