How to get published: Lectures and a workshop

These events are organised by Wiley in partnership with the UJ Research Office, under the Publishing Agreement between Wiley and in collaboration with the South African National Library and Information Consortium

13-15 June 2023
‘How can I succeed in getting my research published in a journal?’
‘What do I need to know about publishing ethics and integrity?
‘What is the peer review process, and how do I navigate it?’
‘How can I share my work with others?’

Join us as we discuss these topics in lectures and a workshop, aimed primarily at PhD students, post-doctoral and early career researchers. The morning lectures and afternoon workshops will be repeated on 14 and 15 June.

Hybrid lectures, 9 am-12 noon

  • Introduction to journal publishing
  • The author’s journey, from submission to publication
  • Publishing ethics
  • Publicising your work

Nadine Gordimer Auditorium (Level 5, Auckland Park Kingsway Campus) or on Zoom

In-person workshop, 2 pm-5 pm

  • Classroom-based interactive discussion
  • In-depth, practical application of steps in the author’s journey

There is a limit of 30 places for each workshop, offered on a first-come, first-served basis.
