The Department of Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Technology, Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment, invites you to an Expert Talk entitled: “Development In Hybrid Machining Processes: A Focus on Rotary Ultrasonic Machining and Micro-Electrochemical Machining”

Guest Speaker

Dr. Ravi Pratap Singh, Assistant Professor, Mechanical Engineering National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra (Haryana) India.

Abstract

Over the last two decades, product miniaturization with integrated functions is a recent trend in manufacturing industries due to the multiple benefits of microproducts and miniaturized featured components. With the development in MEMS, microproducts are widely used in various fields namely electronics, aerospace, optical, biomedical, automotive, etc. Different micromachining methods are available to machine the micro features on macro or micro-sized components on advanced engineering materials, which can be selected based on a number of criteria such as required machining accuracy, tolerance offered, surface finish, type of workpiece material, production rate, and cost of production. In this progressive way, Rotary Ultrasonic Machining (RUSM) and Mirco Electrochemical Machining (µECM) are feasible solutions to process the newest engineering materials with superior performance. This expert talk will shed light on developments in these two processes.
