Supervisor Enrichment Orientation
The Supervisor Enrichment Orientation Programme is designed to help supervisors identify strategies to address key challenges that they face, whilst providing them with the University of Johannesburg’s expectations for supervisory responsibilities and tips on how to locate support and resources to become a more effective supervisor.
The programme is aimed at new, current and aspiring postgraduate supervisors who are potentially looking to enrich their professional development such as: Academic and Support staff, Postdoctoral Research Fellows (PDRFs), Research Associates and Research Fellows.

The supervisor enrichment orientation fostered insightful dialogue around navigating the supervision of diverse students, emphasizing inclusivity and culturally responsive mentorship. Participants gained valuable strategies for understanding diverse learning styles, communication preferences, and research approaches to effectively support all postgraduate students.

2023
The first Supervisor Enrichment Orientation was held on the 6th of September 2023 at the Postgraduate School Training Room, Akanya Building (1st floor), APK Campus.
The programme included a keynote address by Dr Puleng Motshoane – Senior Manager Academic Development and Support, University of Johannesburg on the topic: South African Universities Need to Better Support Doctoral Supervisors
