Promoting Technology-Enhanced Learning and Digital Education”

The main objective of the Pro-Telde project is to equip South African higher education institutions (HEIs) and TVET lecturers with essential digital teaching skills and competencies in the business and economics subjects. The project aims to enhance the quality, relevance, and modernization of education in South Africa by embracing digital transformation and data technologies. Through targeted training programs, the development of online courses, and the creation of a repository of digital teaching sources, the project not only addresses the specific needs of educators and learners but also fosters international cooperation and knowledge exchange. The project is funded by the European Commission under the Erasmus+ Program – Capacity Building in the Field of Higher Education Strand 1. With a grant of 400,000 Euros, this initiative is a testament of the Commission’s commitment to supporting international cooperation and innovation in higher education. The Pro-Telde project  represents the University of Johannesburg’s commitment to societal impact through quality education. Furthermore, the project’s focus on digital transformation and data technologies underscores UJ’s commitment to staying at the forefront of educational innovation.

The project represents a dynamic collaboration between the University of Johannesburg, three European universities (Pixel, Firenze, Italy; University La Sapienza of Rome, Italy; University of Peloponnese, Greece), and three South African TVET colleges(Central Johannesburg TVET College; Majuba TVET College and Vhembe TVET college. The project is facilitated by five staff members from the University of Johannesburg, Department of Commercial Accounting:  Ms Rachel Khoza (project coordinator), Ms Lonah Mbhalati, Mr Kgabo Masehela, Mr Kabelo Morake, and Professor Tankiso Moloi, director at Johannesburg Business School (JBS).
