Apart from being a business guru, Sydney Press was also invested in other personal interests, which included psychiatry, trees, and horse breeding. Sydney established various foundations to aiding humanity, namely:

  • The Sandton Civic Foundation
  • The South African Tree Society and Planning Foundation
  • South African Foundation for Scientific Study and Research

Sydney Press also served as a trustee on several trusts, such as:

  • The Transvaal Urban Foundation
  • Founding member of the Productivity Council and the National Productivity Institute
  • Harry Oppenheimer SA Institute for International Affairs
  • The National Development and Management Foundation
