- Daneel is a teacher and researcher with a deep-rooted affection for talent management. This is evident in teaching, learning, research, and academic citizenship and leadership illustrated as former Director of UJ School of Tourism and Hospitality (2007 – 2009), as Executive Dean of the Faculty of Management (2010 to 2016), and as Executive Dean of College of Business and Economics (2017 to end 2022). The CBE is a vast organisation within UJ regarding enrolment (27,000 students), academic rigour, the annual graduate output of some 5400 graduates, international standing (Top Three in Africa across disciplines), and an annual turnover of about R1,5 billion.
- Daneel graduated from the University of Stellenbosch with a BSc (1983), BSc Honours, MSc (cum laude), a PhD (1990) and an MPhil: Leadership Coaching (cum laude) in 2024 from the University Johannesburg.
- His scholarly contribution centres on making sense of sector-based, transformational strategic change. His academic career is marked by 12 professional awards for exceptional accomplishment, including the Ernest Oppenheimer Memorial Trust Senior Fellowship and a Vice Chancellor’s Distinguished Award for professional and academic excellence.
