CALL FOR APPLICATIONS: LAND AND CUSTOMARY LAW RESEARCHER

CERT seeks to appoint a researcher for a short-term archival study to be conducted from July to September 2024.

The successful candidate is required to deliver a high standard publishable desktop research report within a strict non-negotiable deadline by end September.

Key Requirements:

  1. A PhD or Masters’ degree in the Humanities
  2. Research experience in one or more of these fields in southern Africa:
    • Governance Systems, Legal and Policy Frameworks, Tribal Authorities, and Customary Law
    • Community and Sustainable development
    • Land ownership, Claims, Reform and Disputes
    • Environmental Justice, Resource and Benefit-sharing
  3. Contactable referees and verifiable research experience

Knowledge of San and Khoi Histories, and Nama tribal structures would be an advantage.
