The ‘AUSI’ Research Project
CALL FOR APPLICATIONS: THE ‘AUSI’ RESEARCH PROJECT
Do you hold an Honours degree in Education, the Humanities or Social Sciences and are you interested in southern African feminist indigenous knowledges?
If so, CERT invites you to participate in an exciting and innovative short-term research project on the indigenous feminist ‘Ausi’ in South Africa. ‘Ausi’, and her important ancient generational knowledges in communities about food sustainability, ecosystems and climate change are significantly left out of the archives, curricula and academia, even 30 years after democracy in South Africa.
The research engagement in the project will serve as part of your pre-registration year for a full-time Masters research degree at CERT in 2025. The project is aimed at strengthening the university’s strategy to attain its Pan African and 4IR vision from an indigenous feminist perspective, to achieve gender equality and empower women and girls (centering feminist ‘Ausi’ knowledges and networks), and to promote peaceful and inclusive societies, for sustainable development.
The successful applicants have to be available for full-time research and local travel between June and September 2024, and have to also commit to apply for a full-time transdisciplinary Masters’ research degree with CERT in 2025.
To apply, please send a motivation letter, your CV, an abstract of your Honours’ research thesis, certified qualifications and transcripts to cindyb@uj.ac.za.
CLOSING DATE: 21 May 2024
