WELCOME TO THE UJ HISTORY DEPARTMENT

UJ History is a vibrant and cutting-edge unit within the Faculty of Humanities at the University of Johannesburg. Our staff members come from across the country and all have doctoral degrees from, among others, Cambridge University, Northwestern University, Oxford University , University of Cape Town, University of Michigan, University of Oregon, University of Texas and the University of the Witwatersrand. The staff in our department are all active researchers who publish on a wide range of topics, places and periods. We teach a large number of undergraduates and have a well-supported and vibrant postgraduate program.
