Apart from being a business guru, Sydney Press was also invested in other personal interests, which included psychiatry, trees, and horse breeding. Sydney established various foundations to aiding humanity, namely:
- The Sandton Civic Foundation
- The South African Tree Society and Planning Foundation
- South African Foundation for Scientific Study and Research
Sydney Press also served as a trustee on several trusts, such as:
- The Transvaal Urban Foundation
- Founding member of the Productivity Council and the National Productivity Institute
- Harry Oppenheimer SA Institute for International Affairs
- The National Development and Management Foundation
