About Dr Ismail Vadi
Dr Ismail Vadi is a former Member of the Executive Council for Roads and Transport in the Gauteng Provincial Government, South Africa. Prior to that he served as a Member of Parliament since 1994 until 2010 for the African National Congress. He has lectured in the Faculty of Education at the University of the Witwatersrand. Having retired from official politics in 2019, he serves on the Board of the Ahmed Kathrada Foundation. He has published in education, transport, security studies and liberation history. Currently, he is a Senior Research Associate at the University of Johannesburg.
