About Dr Jacinta Maweu

Jacinta Mwende Maweu (PhD) is a Senior Lecturer in Philosophy and Media studies and an Associate faculty at the Department of Journalism and Media Studies and at the Institute for climate change and Adaptation at the University of Nairobi, Kenya. Her background is in Philosophy and Media studies with M.A degrees in both disciplines from the University of Nairobi and a PhD in Media Ethics and the Political economy of the Media from Rhodes University in South Africa. She has over 17 years of research and teaching experience at the university level. Jacinta has published widely in her areas of interest which include: media, conflict and peacebuilding, media and democracy, Mis/disinformation, media and human rights, media and journalism ethics, political economy of the media, climate change communication, Critical thinking in Communication, social and political philosophy and environmental ethics.
