About Dr Sharne Naidoo

Dr Sharné Naidoo is a dedicated and accomplished chiropractic professional with extensive experience in both academic and clinical settings. She began her academic career as a part-time lecturer at the University of Johannesburg in February 2020, transitioning to a full-time lecturer role in September 2021. Dr Naidoo is recognized for her effective teaching methods, which include the use of innovative teaching strategies and technology to engage students. She coordinates several key modules, including Chiropractic Principles and Practice, Myofascial and Auxiliary Therapies, and Personal and Professional Development. Additionally, she serves as the third-year coordinator and is actively involved in the Faculty Teaching, Learning and Assessment Committee, BHSc Chiropractic applications, academic administration and course development.

Dr Naidoo’s clinical experience includes owning and operating her chiropractic practice from January 2020. In her practice, she diagnosed and treated a variety of musculoskeletal disorders. Her patient-centred approach emphasized personalized treatment plans and referrals to other health practitioners as needed to ensure comprehensive care.

Currently pursuing a Doctor of Health Science in Chiropractic at the University of Johannesburg, Dr Naidoo continues to expand her academic credentials. She has completed several short learning programs with distinction, including Supervision of Quantitative Research Design, Postgraduate Research Supervision, and Introduction to Ethics in Health Research. She also holds a Master of Technology in Chiropractic from the same institution.

Dr Naidoo’s research supervision is notable, with numerous Master of Health Science students under her guidance. She has supervised and co-supervised various research projects, focusing on topics such as chiropractic students’ experiences with artificial intelligence tools, mental health perceptions, and business preparedness.

Her contributions to chiropractic research are well-documented through publications and presentations. She has co-authored articles on the global status of chiropractic education research and the utilization of evidence-based practice in South Africa. As a peer reviewer, she has contributed to several prestigious journals and conferences.

Dr Naidoo’s professional memberships include the Chiropractic Association of South Africa, the Chiropractic Educators Research Forum, and the Golden Key International Honour Society. Her skills in lecturing, syllabus preparation, research supervision, and clinical techniques underscore her comprehensive expertise in the field of chiropractic.
