About Dr I-R Nel

Dr Imo-Rhesa Nel studied his undergraduate degrees, Masters and LLD in the field of law at the University of Johannesburg. Dr Nel received all of his qualifications cum laude and received various academic prizes, including the Gildenhuys Lessing Malatji Inc subject prize for the best results in the Law of Things and the Herman Bosman Prize as the BCom(Law) student with the best results in his final year and the the Constitutional Law Floating Trophy for being the best student in Constitutional Law. He decided to speacialise in the area of commercial law as he believe it is a very relevant field in South Africa. He completed his LLD in Mercantile Law, specifically in Credit Law in 2020. The topic focussed on the provisions in the National Credit Act dealing with over-indebtedness and reckless credit. Dr Nel has supervised Masters degrees in the field of Credit Law as well as in Financial Planning in the Department of Finance and Investment Management. Dr Nel has taught Business Law, Hospitality Law, Labour Law (Mtech), Law for Engineers, Treasury Organisation (honours), Liquidity Management (honours), Financial Market Regulation and Credit Law (Masters).
