About Dr Ishmael Ramatsa
Worked on Hydrometallurgy and biogas production, Anaerobic digestion, Digester design. Currently working on Algae production and future direction is to focus on bio process engineering. His Masters was on Cu-Ni Leaching (Hydrometallurgy) and his PhD is on Digester design and parametric optimization. Published peer reviewed journals and conference papers. Currently involved in farming with an aim to shift to hydrobonics system.
Research Interests
Dr Ishmael M. Ramatsa studied Bachelor of Science majored in Physical Chemistry and Physics, Bachelor of Chemical Engineering Technology and also graduated with Master’s in Hydrometallurgy in Chemical Engineering, from the University of Johannesburg. He is currently a member of academic staff in the Department of Chemical Engineering. He has published several conference and journal papers in both hydrometallurgy and renewable energy. His research interest includes, hydrogen production and systems modelling, biomass pyrolysis, brewing. Research activities include waste to energy, anaerobic systems, and biogas generation, biogas cleaning, bioethanol production, algae and digester design. He is a candidate member of the Engineering Counsel of South Africa (ECSA). He is the member of research group of the Energy and Material Research in the department of Chemical Engineering at the University of Johannesburg
