Ms Carol Mgiba

Carol Mgiba is a lecturer and researcher at the Mining and Mine Survey department with over 8 years of professional experience spread across academia and coal mining operations. Specializing in rock engineering and sustainable mining, Carol uses that experience to foster collaboration in research. She holds a Master’s degree in sustainable mining with an interest of applying rock mechanics and engineering in artisanal and small-scale mining for sustainable mining. She is an active member of South African National Institute of Rock Engineers (SANIRE), International Society of Rock Mechanics (ISRM) and American Rock Mechanics Society (ARMA).
