About Ms Silondiwe Ngwenya
Silondiwe Ngwenya is a Lecturer in the Department of Childhood Education, specialising in Science and Technology Education for the Intermediate phase. She earned her academic credentials from the University of Johannesburg, including a BSc in Life and Environmental Science, a BEd Honours in STEM, and an MEd in Science Education. Additionally, she holds a PGCE and a BEd Honours in Educational Management from the University of South Africa. Currently, she is pursuing a PhD in Education (STEM) from the University of Johannesburg, focusing on exploring how immersive virtual reality can develop the spatial abilities of pre-service teachers in science education. Her research interests have always been the dynamic relationships between language in science education and technology-enhanced teaching and learning. She is primarily interested in emerging technologies, especially immersive virtual reality (IVR) and its potential educational applications.
