E Sport Club
The University of Johannesburg (UJ) students who are video game enthusiasts now have the opportunity to play against other national university students in a series of Electronic Sport (also known as eSport) competitions. In July 2021, University Sport South Africa (USSA) introduced an electronic gaming sports league for students with a zest for PlayStation as well as cellphone and computer games. Since then, UJ entered two teams for the league. The two UJ teams went through to the finals in August 2021, and UJ Team 2 won the final.
More than 100 UJ students have registered to participate in the eSport league series. The games are played on FIFA21 PlayStation, Clash Royale, and League of Legends. Students can challenge other university groups or individuals in the monthly series. The USSA trophy finale will follow once the winners have been selected from the three competitions.
Interested students can join the club.
