About us
The University of Johannesburg (UJ) is a comprehensive university with a high undergraduate student population. To ensure that students’ access to higher education (HE) translates into success, the UJ has instituted various multi-dimensional student support services. One of these is the Writing Centre (WrC) which provides UJ undergraduate, Honours and BTech students with academic research and writing assistance. The first UJ Writing Centre was created in 2003 (Shabanza & Mitoumba-Tindy, 2015) on the Auckland Park Kingsway (APK) campus.
Today, the UJ has four Writing Centres (WrCs), one on each campus. Each UJ Writing Centre is run by a Writing Centre Coordinator who manages a multidisciplinary team of trained writing consultants, who assist students with various aspects of academic research and writing. The four Writing Centre Coordinators are supported by a Senior Writing Centre Coordinator. Some of the services offered by the UJ WrCs are outlined below.
