Purpose
The purpose of the qualification is to develop a competent professional, who has a thorough knowledge and the skills required for the profession of Diagnostic Ultrasound and who has gained experience in applying such knowledge and skills in accredited workplaces. Successful completion of this qualification will entitle the student to register with the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) as a Sonographer.
Career Opportunities
Practitioners uses high frequency sound waves to produce images of body structures.
Admission Requirements
Minimum APS of 31, English 5 (60%+), Mathematics 4 (50%+), Physical Sciences 4 (50%+) and Life Sciences 5 (60%+).
Selection Process
Selection will be based on: academic merit and a clinical placement in a training site accredited by the Health Professional Council of South Africa.
Mathematical Literacy is not accepted.
