Purpose
The Master of Science in Data Science is aimed to further development specialist data science skills to assist industry professionals and diminish the skill shortage in this specific area. It will also seek to improve self-learning capability in each student in order to promote lifelong learning and an aptitude for developing other students in similar fields. The purpose of the qualification is to develop postgraduate students with a high level of research abilities, and advanced knowledge in the field of Data Science.

Admission Requirements
Honours or NQF level 8 qualification in Applied Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or an equivalent field. An average mark of 65% in the previous degree qualification is required. The combination of subjects which the student has completed in their previous degree will also impact on their eligibility.
Selection Process
Students are selected based on academic merit and an approved/appropriate field(s) of study.
