Purpose

The purpose of the SLP is to equip students and professionals with the practical ability to better understand the ancient world. By providing the students with a better understanding of the ancient world (and its reception into the modern world), they will be able to get a clearer understanding of which elements have influenced our modern day life and formed the background to the development of religious texts like the Bible. The skills attained in the course will be useful for any further academic studies in Humanities subjects, for working in the Education sector, and for interpreting contemporary religious texts like the Bible

Career Opportunities

The SLP will focus on creating and increasing opportunities for work in the education sector and/or as a springboard for a full degree in Classical Cultures/Ancient History/Ancient Languages. The SLP will also benefit religious organisations, especially churches, by increasing the knowledge base of their leaders.

High school certificate

Selection Process

The Department will select students with the highest high school marks in relevant disciplines.  Additional education will also be considered.
